All new variants -- Active Plus, Ambition Plus and Elegance -- come with 1.2-litre petrol engines. The vehicles have maximum power of 75 PS and torque of 110 Nm, which is the highest in its segment, according to officials of Skoda MAW.
The ground clearance of each variant is 172mm and the capacity of the luggage compartment is whopping 315 liters - the biggest in its category.
“Until now, we were selling high-end vehicles. But Fabia will cater to the needs of those customers who want to own Skoda vehicle of lower price,” said Deepak Agrawal, general manager of Skoda.
Bhushan Dahal, a Fabia customer, unveiled the new variants in Nepal. Malvika Subba, former Miss Nepal, handed over the key to Dahal, and both Subba and Dahal together handed keys to 20 other customers.
All the variants of Skoda Fabia have rear fog lights, halogen headlights with manual leveling and rear air conditioning vents under front seats. Besides, it has telescopic steering which enables drivers to drive comfortably on rough roads. The higher-end Elegance variant has extra features such as alloy wheels and ABS.
In order to boost initial sales, the company has unveiled introductory discounted prices for the new Fabia. Active Plus is priced at Rs 2.29 million, Ambition Plus costs Rs 2.57 million, and the higher-end Elegance can be taken home for Rs 2.69 million.
Neeraj Rimal, assistant manager of Parkway Health and a customer of Fabia, said he chose to buy Fabia because of its sturdiness, comfortable seats, good air conditioner and the pleasure it gives while driving.
The company had opened booking for the vehicles 15 days ago. During this period, it was able to sell 20 units.
"We are planning to sell 100 units within the first four months of the launch and 500 units in a year," Agrawal said.
The new Fabia is available in Candy White, Cappuccino Beige, Deep Black Pearl, Brilliant Silver and Flash Red colors.
