Three drug peddlers arrested in four days

KATHMANDU, Feb 7: Narcotics control bureau in Kathmandu arrested three drug peddlers over the last four days. Those arrested are Mamata Buda, 29, of Nuwa Gaun-5 of Rolpa, Bikash Lo, 36, of Sarikhet Palashe-8 of Makawanpur and Krishna Prasad Barnawal, 34, of Champaran, Nagaroad, India.



According to inspector Krishna Paneru, Mamta and Krishna were under police surveillance for running a drug racket in the Valley and Bikash for smuggling crude hashish to India and China through various routes.[break]



“Mamata was involved in bringing heroine from Rupaidiha in India and selling the drug at wholesale price to dealers. Their customers mostly included teenagers and school and college students.” The police said Mamata had been running the drug racket for the last two to three years in the Valley.



Likewise Krishna had also been running a drug racket in the capital for the last few years, said the police. He was arrested from Kalanki in the capital in possession of 100 grams of brown heroine.



According to the police, Bikash bought crude Hashish from different places in Makawanpur and Dhading and smuggled them to the bordering towns of India and China.



Following a tip off, the police had arrested Bikash from Mahadevsthan in possession of 255 kg of crude hashish. Demand of crude hashish is high in China and India, said the police.
