The bus, Na 4 Kha 7398, bound for Kothiyaghat from Baglung, had hit the parked truck, Na 3 Kha, 5168 , at around 4 in the morning. The three passengers died instantly.[break]
According to police, Bina Kumari Chaudhari, 28, of Sisahaniya VDC-4 in Dang district; Rajan Raya, 26, a Nepal Army soldier stationed at 24th Brigade in Jumala and his four year old son Jenish Raya died on the spot.
Anita Raya, 24 and Sita Raya, 24 of Sitapur-6 in Nepalganj, Gaumaya Tamang, 55 of the same VDC and her 9-year-old granddaughter Bhawana Tamang, Anil Rai of Dolakha, Parbati Giri of Pokhara and her 8-year-old daughter Babli Giri, Sabin Thapa of Rajapur-1 Bardiya, Prakash Chaudhari of Sisahaniya-4, Pipari in Dang district and two children --10 years old daughter Pratignya Chaudhari and 8 years old son Pratik -- are said to be critically injured. They were referred to Lumbini zonal hospital for the further treatment after preliminary treatment at Sanjibani Community Hospital in Chandrauta, where other injured passengers have been undergoing treatment.
Police Inspector at Area police office Chandrauta, Jageshwar Bhandari, informed that the driver of the passenger bus, Gokul Paudel, of Baglung , who was absconding after the accident, has now contacted the police.
According to the locals, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force rescue teams had arrived at the spot one hour after the accident although the APF office and Area Police Office are just five kilometers away from the spot. The locals said that the accident happened as the bus was overspeeding and the driver might have fallen asleep on the wheel.
