KATHMANDU, Aug 18: The government has decided to appoint three joint secretaries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Nepal’s ambassadors to three different countries.
Highly-placed government sources said a cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence in Baluwatar decided to recommend the names of joint secretaries Gahendra Rajbhandari, Tapas Adhikari and Ram Kaji Khadka as the Nepali ambassadors to Belgium as well as European Union, Pakistan and Germany, respectively.

While Joint Secretary Rajbhandari is currently serving as the Chief of Protocol, Adhikari heads the South East Asia and Pacific Division at the ministry. Similarly, Joint Secretary Khadka is serving as the Director General of the Department of Passport.
Although the cabinet meeting has decided to recommend their names, it will still take some time for their appointment as they will all have to testify before the parliamentary Hearing Committee and wait for the ‘agreemo’ from the host countries.
