Thieves steal goods by digging tunnel

RAUTAHAT, Nov 12: A gang of thieves stole goods and cash worth Rs 2 million from four houses in Rautahat on Saturday night. The theft took place in Harshaha Tol of Katahariya Municipality 4. The group of thieves, who still remain unidentified, broke into the four houses by digging tunnels.

RAUTAHAT, Nov 12: A gang of thieves stole goods and cash worth Rs 2 million from four houses in Rautahat on Saturday night. The theft took place in Harshaha Tol of Katahariya Municipality 4. The group of thieves, who still remain unidentified, broke into the four houses by digging tunnels.


Jagat Yadav claimed that the thieves took away Rs 50,000 in cash, a Dell laptop worth Rs 44,000, and clothes worth Rs 32,000 bought for the Chhath festival. Similarly, the thieves stole Rs 10,000 in cash, 1 Samsung mobile, and 10 tola gold worth Rs 600,000 from Manoj Yadav's house. Likewise, another local Feku Das lost 1 Samsung cell phone, jewelry, and clothes and goods amounting to Rs 500,000. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Amod Kumar confirmed the theft.

Jewelry and cash amounting to Rs 150,000 was also stolen from Birendra Chaurasiya's house. The victims said that the theft took place between 11 pm and 2 am on Saturday night. According to the victims, two tunnels were dug in each of the houses and the thieves carried the loot in tin boxes to the nearby fields before unlocking them.


DSP Mahendra Prasad Marasani of District Police Office, Rautahat said that they have initiated investigation and that a search team has been deployed to catch the thieves.
