Galkot Sahastra waterfall in Baglung district has a cultural significance of its own. With proper promotion and advertisement, the area could help locals earn money through tourism. The waterfall is around 200 meters long that flows between a narrow path of stones. About the waterfall, Rabin Bohora, a local resident said, “It looks like the water is falling directly from heaven and watching the waterfall gives you a divine feeling and can help you ease your stress.” According to him, the place can become a popular tourist destination of Baglung with the development of proper infrastructures.
Bohoraphat and Shyala villages lie near the waterfall and while local communities believe the waterfall carries spiritual powers. They worship at the basement of the waterfall where the water is mixed with Dharkhola. To enjoy the beauty of the waterfall, local tourists from Bohoraphat and Shyala as well as other nearby villages visit the place. The waterfall is just about 45 minutes’ walk from Hatiya Bazar of Galkot.
According to a local Jhahar Bahadur Khatri, tourists can enjoy the beauty of nature from this place which is rich in biodiversity. He said, “The surrounding here is eco-friendly and it is the main attraction to lure visitors to return to this place.” Chairperson of Galkot-3, Bir Jung Bhandari, informed that the waterfall was in dire straits due to the lack of community a nearby. He said, “If the authorized bodies took some initiation to promote this place as a tourist destination, there are chances that tourism business can boom here.”
