Nature is attractive as well as destructive. This is the universal fact and often we all need to be close to nature to get away from our everyday tension and hectic lifestyle. And one such perfect destination that helps to get close to nature is Bhujikot situated in Tanahun, Gandaki Province.

However, even being blessed by nature, Bhujikot is overshadowed in comparison to other touristic hub, due to lack of promotion. Perched in Gandaki Province, from Bhujikot, you can observe the cityscape of Pokhara and Phewa Lake.

Moreover, you can also witness an eye-catching sight of rapidly flowing Seti River along with alluring magnificent mountain ranges including Machhapuchre, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri.

According to a local Bhakta Bahadur Gurung, despite of these potentialities, Bhujikot is still untraveled destination amid travel enthusiasts. “Bhujikot situated seven kms away from Dulegauda and Katre Bazar. The influx of tourist is high only in winter and holidays. In monsoon, this place turns into desert without any tourists. And the reason for this is the difficulty tourists have to face throughout their journey due to vulnerable road condition in monsoon,” Gurung lamented.

Gurung stressed the need of the development of infrastructure like hotels, roads, etc and promotion to trigger tourist in Bhujikot. “Infrastructures couldn’t be added as local authority is disinterest in the developmental work for this place. Without proper infrastructure, it is impossible to attract tourist toward this place. So, local government should allocate proper budget for the development of infrastructures.”

Nevertheless, there has been some developmental work to boost the tourism. Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Tanahun has already built a view tower at Dulegauda.  Eventually, numerous domestic tourists have visited during winter and public holidays.

Local government has prioritized the tourism development in Bhujikot, according to Jagat Bahadur Gurung, ward chairperson. He said, “We have been regularly upgrading condition of road for comfort of tourists.”

He further said that local body has allocates the budget of Rs 2.5 million for the development of road in the current fiscal year. “We’ve constructed proper drainage system and widen   road. Now we will build the gravel road,” he added.

Chairperson Gurung said that municipality is making road map to promote tourism where Bhujikot has been also included. According to chairperson Jagat Bahadur, the local authority is making a ground plan to operate homestay in Bhujikot to draw the tourists’ attention. He shared, “Homestay Management Committee has agreement with Division Forest Office (DFO), Tanahun for construction of proper homestay here.”

As province government has provided aid of Rs 1 million to build homestay through DFO, the locals are set to construct the necessary infrastructures. Meanwhile, local government has further provided aid of Rs 100, 000 to those villages who have received aid of Rs 1 million.
