KATHMANDU, March 6: One World Theater (OWT) has announced the world premiere of The Little School, based on the memoir by Alicia Partnoy, adapted for the stage and directed by Deborah Merola, to be staged in Kathmandu between March 9 and March 17 at Kausi Theater. As a political prisoner in Argentina during the 1970s, Alicia was 'disappeared'. Her book 'The Little School: Tales of Disappearance and Survival' has been translated into many languages around the world.

The cast includes Partnoy herself, alongside her daughter, Eva Leiva Partnoy, who plays a younger version of the writer. Actors from the U.S are joining actors in Nepal to perform this memoir, to illustrate what it was like to be 'disappeared' under a repressive political regime. The Nepali cast has made strong connections to the decade-long armed conflict in Nepal and the continuing efforts of the victims of that conflict to get justice.

OWT founder Deborah Merola has said that the parallel issue of the ongoing efforts in Nepal for transitional justice for disappeared persons is very strong.
