Thapa is one of the promoters of Mard Meat Center which has been opened with an investment of Rs 50 million. However, his stake in the new venture has not been disclosed.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Nepali Congres leader Thapa, who is also chairman of the Agriculture and Water Resources Committee of legislature-parliament, said that the center also aims to encourage local youths. He also urged the government to bring different programs for involving youths in agriculture sector and replacing import of agro products.
The center also opened a branch in Tulsipur from Tuesday itself.
Bishnu Prasad Sharma, managing director of Mard Meat Center, said they were mulling over opening outlets in in Lamahi of Dang and Nepalgunj of Banke. "Besides selling fresh and hygienic meat products, we also plan to involve ourselves in agricultural researches and studies," he added.
