Thapa clinches chess championship

POKHARA, Jan 23: Krishna Thapa from Hetauda has won the chess competition organized on the occasion of the Pokhara Festival. Thapa who secured 5.5 points to clinch the title got a cash prize of Rs 25 thousand, medal and certificate.

POKHARA, Jan 23: Krishna Thapa from Hetauda has won the chess competition organized on the occasion of the Pokhara Festival. Thapa who secured 5.5 points to clinch the title got a cash prize of Rs 25 thousand, medal and certificate.


He is an Asian amateur and second ranking national chess player from 2056 BS to 2061BS. He has been playing from Gajurmukhi Club of Ilam.

Similarly, Maheshwar Adhikari won the second position with 5 points. He got cash prize of Rs 15,000, a medal and a certificate while Buddhiraj Sharma who secured 4.5 points won the third position. He was presented cash award of Rs 10,000.


President of United Club, Lalkaji Gurung handed the prize to the winners. Thirty players participated in the competition.
