POKHARA, Aug 28: Chairman of RPP (Nepal) Kamal Thapa has accused India and European countries of “blatantly interfering” in Nepal´s internal affairs. He said the Constituent Assembly has not been able to elect a new prime minister due to India´s direct interference.

“There has been an open foreign interference and pressure in the country since Jana Andolan II to throwing monarchy,” Thapa said while speaking with reporters on Saturday, adding that India has also been interfering in the ongoing parliament voting to elect the new PM. [break]

Stating that the 12-point understanding is an example of official foreign interference, he said, “India interfered in Pashupati priest row, Katawal case, Prachanda government´s downfall and Madhav Kumar Nepal´s resignation and now the interference is being witnessed in the PM election,” he said.

He stated that the PM´s election is being postponed time and again since the Indian prime minister´s special envoy Shyam Saran visited Nepal and met political leaders.

Thapa also said that since the CA has failed to draft the constitution and elect a new prime minister, it should be dissolved and people should start a campaign for safeguarding nationality.

“Dissolution of CA, a new agreement among the 25 parties, fresh election and a referendum on the issues of monarchy and Hindu state is the only way out of the present crisis,” Thapa said. “The country is on the verge of becoming a failed state due to bad deeds of the three main parties.”

On the issue of UNMIN´s role, Thapa said the Nepal Army must be freed from UNMIN´s control and the Maoist army brought under the national army.
