KATHMANDU, Aug 29: The Terror Victim Orphaned Society has objected to the decision of the government of submitting the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Ordinance- 2069 BS and the Commission for Investigation on Forced Disappearances Ordinance-2069 BS to the President by the government.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers held on August 27 had decided to submit the ordinances along with other two ordinances to the president.[break]

The Society objected to the saying the government unilaterally submitted the bills to the President by neglecting the earlier bills which have been already tabled at the parliament after holding long discussions with the stakeholders.

Issuing a press statement on Wednesday, Chairman of the Society, Suman Adhikary, said that the ordinances presented by the government unilaterally would increase more impunity, would not give justice to the victims and against the universal principles of human rights.

The Society also urged the President not to accept the ordinances as the government has tried to form the commissions through the ordinances with the mentality of giving clemency to the guilty of serious types of human rights violations.
