Tension as IED goes off at Gorkha campus

GORKHA, Feb 27: With the Free Students Union election just around the corner, tension has flared at both of the colleges in the district.


The All Nepal National Independent Union Revolutionary (ANNISU-R), the student wing of CPN (Maoist Center), has padlocked the college while an unidentified gang has detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) at Drabya Shah Multiple Campus.

The notice pasted on the wall of the college has said that the ANNISU-R had padlocked the college after the election panel did not put the union at the second number in the list while filing the nominations. 


With the disturbance, the election work has not moved ahead Election Officer Yadu Adhikari told Republica Online.


The nomination has been filed at these campuses. As many as 1,050 students – 600 at Gorkha campus and 450 at Drabya Shaha campus – are taking part in the FSU elections.
