Temporary teachers stage sit-in

KATHMANDU, Sept 4: Teachers appointed on a temporary basis staged a sit-in in front of the main gate of Singha Durbar Wednesday, with a view to piling pressure on the government to address their demands.



At the call of Temporary Teachers´ Struggle Committee-2070 BS, prior to this, they organised a rally from Bagbazaar, Putalisadak to Bhadrakali. [break]



Temporary teachers from out of the Kathmandu valley are presently in the capital in connection of the agitation.



According to committee chairman Ramchandra Adhikari, the sit-in programme would continue until coming Friday. We would not break the cordon, but would intensify our agitation if we faced any intervention, he said.



Temporary teachers are on agitation, demanding permanent status through a due process, postponement of publish of results of the recent Teachers´ Service Commission´s examinations and internal competition among all temporary and contract teachers, among others.
