According to DSP Ishwar Karki of the LMPRO, the deceased was identified as Dipak Pariyar, of Chhampi, Lalitpur, who was also the vice chairman of District Dalit Association, Lalitpur.
“Even though the evidences found at the incident site left us in a quandary found for a while, it did not take us for a long time to catch the culprit. It was Kumar Pakhrin, a temporary police deployed at Chapagaun Police Circle. Police had found his police uniform at the incident site.
“Pakhrin, originally from Sindhuli, had been hobnobbing with Pariyar in Chhampi since long,’ police said quoting locals.
Police investigation has revealed that Pakhrin and Pariyar were returning home after buying vegetables. Both had taken alcohol from a local Lama Hotel.
According to locals, they were seen staggering and arguing loudly on the way. When they reached the incident site Pariyar picked up a stone and hit Pariyar with it and fled the scene.
Pakhrin used to work as a labor in Chhampi, according to Karki. However, attitude has changed after he joined the temporary police. Police have taken Pakhrin under control from Bhaisepati on Tuesday morning. Police are investigating him after taking him into the custody of Chapagaun Police Circle for further investigation.
