KATHMANDU, May 29: The Meteorological Forecasting Department (MFD) has issued a warning about rising temperatures across the country over the next few days, with extreme heat expected in the Terai region.
The MFD has advised all to take necessary precautions and venture outside only if essential due to the anticipated heat wave and hot air in the Terai from today for the next three days.

Temperatures have been recorded at 40 degrees Celsius in several places in West Terai, including Dhangadhi and Nepalgunj, and are expected to rise further in the coming days. As a result, various municipalities in the Terai have decided to close schools.
All those living in the Terai region are urged to be aware of the potential health effects of extreme heat, which can include fatigue, weakness, excessive thirst, headache, leg cramps, dizziness, fainting, muscle aches and vomiting.
The DHM has advised to take preventive measures such as staying indoors in a cool place during the hottest parts of the day, limiting outdoor activities and avoiding direct sun exposure, wearing light, cotton clothing and covering head with a hat or scarf while going outside, drinking plenty of water and soft drinks (such as juice) regularly in case of health issues and maintaining regular contact with healthcare workers and seek their advice to avoid these effects.
