KATHMANDU, Oct 8: Tribhuvan University currently has 95,540 students, with only 15.10 percent enrolled in technical programs, according to data presented on the university’s 67th anniversary.
TU Registrar Dr Rabindra Shiwakoti presented the data, which showed that 84.90 percent of the university’s students are enrolled in general education programs.

According to the grace list published by TU, based on data as of July 15, 2025, the Faculty of Management has the highest number of students, followed by the Faculties of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and Technology, and Engineering.
The university has around 43,000 students in management, 19,533 in education, 15,461 in humanities and social sciences, 6,668 in science and technology, 5,160 in engineering, 3,009 in law, 1,920 in medicine, 463 in agriculture and animal sciences, and 192 in forestry.
Similarly, 253 students are enrolled in MPhil programs and 196 in PhD programs.
The data also includes the number of students who obtained transcripts at various levels, indicating that TU produces a large number of graduates every year. However, the figures show that the majority of students remain enrolled in non-technical fields, highlighting the need to increase interest in technical education amid growing demand for technical and vocational skills in the job market.
