The two Associations had met the Education Minister on November 10 and handed over a memorandum including various demands.[break]
The Government´s attention was drawn towards tabling the 11th amendment to the Education Act and resolving problems facing the education sector including that of the temporary teachers, according to General Secretary of the Union, Chunni Sharan Yadav.
He also said that they informed the Minister that they were ready to sit for a dialogue on issues relating to the formation of high-level education commission among others only if the process of bringing amendments to the Education Act was initiated.
President of Nepal National Teachers´ Association, Baburam Adhikari said Minister Sharma pledged to play a positive role in addressing their demands.
He also warned of resorting to an agitation if the demands were not fulfilled.
