KATHMANDU, July 18: Chairman of Nepal Sadbhawana Party Sarita Giri has said that Tarai-based armed outfits may disrupt the Constitution Assembly (CA) elections if the government does not address their demands.

Talking to Republica Online, Giri said, “Armed outfits of Tarai have been unified and they are likely to challenge the security forces at polling booths.”

Meanwhile, speaking at a press conference in Janakpurdham, Giri said “Armed outfits are unsatisfied with the UCPN (Maoist) and the government as their combatants were not considered for the army integration process,” she added. [break]

On a different note, Giri said that the last CA was dissolved with a clear intent to further sideline the Madhesi communities. “The last CA was dissolved with an aim to marginalize the Madhesi community and to weaken the one-Madhes demand,” she claimed. When asked about Baidya’s move, she said that the three major parties should be blamed for creating an environment for agitation.

“Baidya is forced by the three major parties to launch protest,” she said adding, "The government should be ready to hold a round table conference in order to bring the agitating parties on board the election."  Giri predicted that CA polls will not be held on November 19.

“How can the polls be held in status quo?” she questioned. She further said that the three major parties are not serious about holding the CA elections. She accused the Regmi-led government of being biased against Baidya’s demands.

Talking about party unification between her party and Tarai Madesh Democratic Party-Nepal, she said that an initial phase of dialogue has already been held last month and the next phase will follow very soon.

She made it clear that unification talks are going very positively. She accused other Madhes-based parties of hatching conspiracy to prevent unification between her party and TMDP Nepal.
