Tamang front ends strike

KATHMANDU, Aug 3: The Tamsaling Joint Struggle Committee has agreed to end its ongoing struggle after reaching a deal with the government on Monday.



The committee said the government talks team led by Minister for Peace and Reconstruction agreed on four major demands raised by the Tamangs. "But we shall ink a deal only on Tuesday as we still have a few other minor issues to be settled," said committee secretary Kumar Yonjan.



As per the agreement, the government has agreed to the ring road around the Kathmandu Valley as Tamsaling Road, set up a separate brigade in Nepal Army for Tamangs, form development committees in Swayambhu and Namo Buddha, and enforce development programs in Tamsaling region.
