KATHMANDU, Nov 9: Another round of formal talks between the government and the agitating Madhes-based political parties is going to be held on Monday.
Agitating parties urge Oli to create environment for talks
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa, who heads the government's talks team, informed about the talks on Sunday through his twitter account. He tweeted, "Formal talks between government and agitating parties is scheduled for Monday (1 pm) at the ministry of foreign affairs.
" The government has already held several rounds of talks with the agitating parties with no breakthrough in negotiations so far. As a result, the parties have continued with their protests in the southern plain of the country for over three months, throwing normal life out of gear.Talks between the government and the agitating Madhes-based parties last week had taken a positive turn after they agreed to settle the issue of provincial delineation through broader consensus between the ruling coalition, agitating parties and the opposition parties including the main opposition Nepali Congress but the death of an Indian involved in the protests in Birgunj the next day ruined the environment of talks.
