If I had a choice being the lazy person that I am, my Fridays would be spent at home with a book, a bunch of movies or rather just laze around at a friend’s place. But once in a while, the energetic, adventurous side of me takes over and I end up staying away from home all day long.

Let me take you through the weekend hop of adventures and, I guess, a more interesting side of me.[break]

10:30 am – Breakfast at Bouddha

Fridays, being my blessed holiday of the week, I can make plans starting early mornings. Bouddha is one of my favorite places to be; I love its sights, sounds, scents and everything about it. After a calming stroll around the stupa, I can walk into a Garden Restaurant, with its beautiful ambience for a light breakfast- toast, butter, boiled sausages and coffee. They serve it quick and they serve it good.

Afternoon till 4 pm
Go with the flow

On Fridays, you don’t have many options during the afternoon, so I usually go with the flow. After Bouddha, Pasang Lhamu Foundation near Sankha Park seems near. Wall climbing, an activity I discovered last year, can be straining, yet exciting at the same time. And it’s a great way to spend your afternoon- a little bit of work out, and a lot of fun. I also have the option of visiting Fun Park and play some columbus or I could go to the Garden of Dreams or stroll around Patan Durbar Square. See, not many options.

4:30 pm – Swimming

Summer’s here and to beat the heat, a dip in the pool sounds refreshing, doesn’t it? So I head off to the International Club at Sanepa. Even though the place has become a bit expensive this year, for me it’s still the best place to go for a swim. So I wind up spending an hour or so, swimming or just back floating. By the way, I’m still a beginner at this.

6:00 pm – Food hunt

After a swim, you’re hungryyy. First stop- the street sides shop at Jawalakhel near the NTC building. A friendly didi at the corner most shop, serves perfectly fried sausages along with snacks and has the best piro achar which I often crave. Then on, either its time for some Tibetan momos at Ekantakuna or if you’re loaded and feel like trying something new there are numerous eateries in the Jhamsikhel area. For dessert, I still love Dhokama Café’s cheesecake, but my new favorite is the Higher Grounds Bakery. My friend introduced me to their amazing double chocolate cake but I’ve fallen in love with their brownie- crumbly, chocolaty and filled with melting buttery chocolate in the middle- sinfully good.

7:00 - Cocktails and fun

If I still have energy left in me and I’m in the mood to drink, my only choice would be Maya Cocktail Bar at Thamel. I have never been much of a drinker but this place actually made me want to drink- more specifically, their cocktails made of real fresh fruits; not artificial flavors. I’ve tried drinks and cocktails at various other places, but none as tasty as theirs- their pina colada, strawberry delight, lemon and apple mix, Mojitos and the list could go on – Yumm.

9:00 pm onwards
Party or Curfew.

Just when Friday night begins for most people, I might have to head home. But during some rare lucky days my parents might allow me to party if accompanied by a dozen or more friends. If not, I head towards home sweet home and on to my cozy bed..
