Swine flu infected rises to 121 in Chitwan

RATNANAGAR, March 29: The number of people found infected with Swine flu had reached 121 in Chitwan.

Of the 356 people who underwent medical tests as of this morning, 121 were found carrying the swine influenza A H1N1 virus, says the District Public Health Office. Result of some of the samples send for testing is awaited, said vector control inspector at the Office Ram Kumar KC.

Though the rate of infection has gone down, the infection continues to spread. As a result, doctors and health officials will assess the situation today and decide on programmes for the future, added KC.

In 2013, only ten people were infected with the virus whereas the number was 11 in 2014 in Chitwan.

Meanwhile, medical superintendent at Bharatpur Hospital Dr Bijaya Poudel has urged all to remain alert so as to avoid being infected by the virus. He however said there was no need to panic.

The hospital has set up a help desk and also an isolation ward to treat those infected with Swine flu.
