The tournament is being held as part of the preparations for the upcoming South Asian Games (SAG), informed NSA. The players´ selection for the first phase training camp for the upcoming SAG will be made on the basis of their performance in the tournament.
Club chess from Sept 9
KATHMANDU, Aug 29: The Himalayan Chess Club is organizing the First National Club Team Championship Rating Chess Tournament from September 9-13. The tournament will be held at Women Training Development Center, Jawalakhel, under the aegis of Nepal Chess Association.
At least 15 teams including the host, Machhindra Club, Kantipur Chess Club, Three Star Club, Kathmandu Chess Club, Elite Club, Makhan Chess Sports Committee and others have confirmed their participation in the event. The organizers expect participation of 10 more teams.
The top three teams will bag cash prizes of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000, respectively while the best four players among the boards will receive cash prizes of Rs 5,000 each. The tournament is expected to cost Rs 800,000.
