Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar spoke about issues facing women at a program organized by South Asian Women’s Fund (SAWF) in Kathmandu on Saturday. Swara is playing a small-town erotic dancer in her recent movie ‘Anarkali of Aarah’.
“Presenting strong emotions and gestures in the movies that deal with women and their development is a challenging task. It is crucial to study and understand social differences to immaculately perform as a strong woman in films,” she said in an interview.
She also talked about the challenges and difficulties she had to face while shooting for ‘Anarkali of Aarah’.

“In the movie, I have tried to raise voice against sexual harassment. Everyone might not have a happy ending like the film has, but everyone should have the will power to overcome the evils in the society,” she added.
Bhaskar, who was nominated for best supporting actress in movies ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ and ‘Raanjhanaa’ at the Filmfare Awards, is currently busy shooting for her new movie ‘Veera di wedding’. Sonam Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor are also starring in the movie. Before this, Swara was seen acting in ‘Guzaarish’, ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ and ‘X: Past is Present’.
Swara had taken a short time off her busy schedule to come to Nepal, and flew back to India on Saturday.
