KATHMANDU, Jan 29: The Supreme Court has asked the government to provide details concerning the implementation status of its previous order on the Fewa lake encroachment.

Responding to a contempt of court case filed by advocate Khagendra Subedi, a joint bench of justice Prakashman Singh Raut and Prakash Dhugana on Wednesday ordered the Prime Minister's Office and concerned government agencies to submit details concerning the implementation status of order on the Fewa lake encroachment.

On August 9 last year, advocate Subedi moved the apex court for the delay in honoring the Supreme Court's order on the Fewa lake encroachment.

Advocate Subedi had filed the contempt of court case against the Prime Minister, Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Padma Kumari Aryal, Minister for Forest and Environment Shakti Basnet and Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Prithvi Subba Gurung. Similarly, Chief Secretary Lokdarshan Regmi, Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office Dulliraj Ghimire and Secretary at the Ministry of Land Management Gopinath Mainali are also among the nine defendants of the contempt of court case filed last week “for not implementing the court verdict.”
