According to police, the bodies of Chetan Adhikari,14, of Panipokhari, Kusapani VDC-8 and Bhawana Adhikari, also 14, of Kusapni VDC-9 were found hanging by each other´s shawl and muffler from a tree in the forest. [break]
“Their parents´ were against their marriage because of their tender age. After finding no way to persuade the parents, they must have committed suicide, fearing they might have to break up,” said in-charge of Panipokhari Police Station Assistant Sub-inspector Premnath Yogi. A team has been deployed to investigate the suicides.
The double suicide by the lovers, who were both grade 10 students at Mahadev Secondary School in Kusapani VDC, has stunned the whole district, informed a local. “Their relationship had been going on for a year now,” said the local. The lovers had worn each other´s clothes before hanging themselves.
The bodies were post-mortemed at Dailekh District Hospital on Friday, informed ASI Yogi.
There have been 46 suicides in the district till last year, accoding police. Most of them had killed themselves because of depression and failed relationships.
According to police research, 17 of the suicides were by those under 20. The research report stated that in most cases failed relationships followed by depression and upsets in studies led to suicide.
