Sudurpaschim, Lumbini provincial assemblies pass policies and programs

KATHMANDU, June 14: The Province Assembly meeting of Sudurpaschim Province held on Tuesday passed the province government's policies and programs for the fiscal year 2023/24 BS with a majority.

After the deliberations on the government's policies and programs, Speaker Bhim Bahadur Bhandari had tabled a proposal for decision, which was passed with a majority.

Earlier, Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Kamal Bahadur Shah responded to the province assembly members' concerns on the government's policies and programs and said that the government was ready to co-work with all for the cause of development in the province.

Chief Minister Shah said that the budget for the upcoming fiscal year is being formulated by prioritizing agriculture, tourism, education, health care and energy sectors.

He said that the current government has included some of the best practices and programs of the previous government for the upcoming fiscal year.

Similarly, the policy and programs presented by the Lumbini province government has been passed by a majority of the Provincial Assembly.

The policy and program was passed by the majority of the assembly in the 10th meeting held today. Chief Minister Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary, on behalf of the provincial government, tabled a proposal seeking passage of the policy and programs for the financial year 2080/81.

Speaker Tularam Gharti presented the government's proposal for a decision before the assembly, and it was passed on the basis of a voice vote.

Earlier, the ruling MPs defended the policy and programs while members of opposition parties criticized them.

In Tuesday's meeting, five provincial members had registered amendment proposals to the government's policy and programs, which was rejected by a majority.

Also at the meeting today, Minister for Economic Affairs Dhan Bahadur Maski presented the economic survey of the financial year 2022/23.

The 11th meeting of the Provincial Assembly will be held at 3:00 pm on June 16.
