Announcing the launch on Thursday, Subisu said that it was the first company to launch such service in the country.
Subisu CableNet partnered with US-based Vidyo, Inc to bring the telepresence services to Nepal in the form of Subisu MVP, the company said.
Telepresence refers to a set of technologies which allows a person to feel as if they were present, to give the appearance of being present, or to have an effect, via telerobotics, at a place other than their true location, according to Wikipedia. [break]
According to the company, the service enables one to attend mass meetings, seminars or conferences at once amongst a scattered group of members.
“Subisu MVP is a complete telepresence solution from any end point over the internet or over Subisu´s network without requiring expensive hardware upgrades that delivers high definition (HD) video communication between multiple office locations over multiple platforms,” said Sujan Shah, the senior officer – Sales and Corporate sector business unit.
According to the company, Subisu MVP works on installing an application and logging into the system with the provided username and password.
The service delivers HD video, presentation sharing, multiple users in one virtual meeting and set up reminders and schedules, states the company´s press release.
Further, the service enables 16 people to hold a meeting at once within the network.
The company said that the service been targeted at those companies and firms where people literally have to move long distances to attend meetings and gatherings.
“The new service can be used by educational institutions spread among remote locations to share lectures from one location with another and banks and other financial institutions to hold meeting with nation-wide branches, among others, over a secured network,” said Sudhir Parajuli, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Subisu Cable Network.
According to the company, in order to subscribe the service one needs to register his/her user at Subisu with Rs 2,500. Subscribers will be charged monthly fees of Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000, said the company.
