CAN president Binod Dhakal said the participation by the exhibitors and the visitors this year grew manifolds as compared to the previous years.
“We have been surprised by the huge visitor turnout this year. This has proved that Nepali people have become much conscious about Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) industry,” Dhakal said, adding that the last day of the event witnessed overwhelming visitors, probably because of a public holiday.
“We extended the visiting period to from 5 pm to 7 pm, as the crowd in the expo remained until late evening,” Dhakal said of the closing day.
Meanwhile, the exhibitors also termed the event successful, saying that they were able to interact with their potential clients and also introduce their new products and services. Rejina Aacharya, senior media coordinator of Subisu Cable Net - the title sponsor of the expo, said the event was successful and that the participation of visitors was overwhelming.
“Despite less products showcased in the event compared to InfoTech, the number of visitors in this edition of SofTech was similar to that of InfoTech,” Aacharya said, adding that the SofTech has brought a number of companies and their respective customers together, which will help the companies to extend their business and service in days to come.
The event showcased new applications along with software related to education, cyber security, banking, information management, account management, anti-virus, security solutions and internet services.
The stalls run by Subisu, Next Technology, Nepal Telecom and Web Suffer, among others drew a huge crowd.
Amrit Kumar Pant, general secretary of CAN, said that the event was a huge success and that the association has met all its objectives.
Pant added that the expo this year witnessed a huge turnout -more than the organizers had expected also because the event was held at wider space and with more participating companies.
At the sidelines of the SofTech, CAN also announced a four-month long training course to IT graduates in collaboration with Kings College.
“The course aims to create skilled IT entrepreneurs in the country,” Pant said, and added that the course will be beneficial to those IT graduates aspiring for ICT industry jobs as they will receive practical training so as to make them saleable in the industry.
According to CAN, the course will be offered at Rs 25,000.
