Strengthening of police organization my priority: Inspector General Kunwar

KATHMANDU, March 26: The newly-appointed Inspector General of Nepal Police Basant Bahadur Kunwar has said that the internal strengthening of the police organization is his priority.


After wearing the badge of the Inspector General of Police at Singha Durbar on Sunday, he stressed the need for reform in the police. “Internal strengthening of the police is my promise. I will not be swayed by this," said Kunwar.

He also said that he does not have the privilege of counting the days to improve the police administration. “There is no need to hide what the police are like. I am not in favor of improving the police by hiding and suppressing these aspects. Reforms in the police are necessary, he said, “Now there is no excuse for it.”


He said that he will be active in strengthening the internal security of the country by coordinating and cooperating with the Nepali Army, Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department in addition to crime prevention and investigation.
