Status of most of Rolpa's missing still unknown

ROLPA Dec 20: A total of 37 people in Rolpa have remained unaccounted for since mid July this year, said District Police Office (DPO), Rolpa. 

Of the missing persons, four are from a single family, said Dil Kumari Budhamagar, DPO's Chief of Women's Cell. The number of missing persons is high due to the fact that children are allured to do manual works at brick kilns; domestic fight ensuing from alcoholism and the trend to runaway to get married, according to Budhamagar. 

Most of those missing have poor economic background and come from district's border VDCs of Pakhapani, Sakhi, Masina, Jinawang and Marul. 

Among the missing, 20 are men and 17 women while most of them are above 20 years of age, DPO said. 

The police have been intensifying the search for the missing, but have only found 5 persons till date. They include four children and a woman. Last year alone, 80 persons disappeared in the district and their whereabouts are still unknown. RSS
