To prevent the movement of terrorists in the area, the security agencies have been asked to ascertain the identities of people before allowing them to cross the border, SSB Commandant Lalit Kumar said.
Apart from this, orders have been issued to other security agencies such as Indo-Nepal Border Police and local intelligence unit (LIU) to be on the alert on the border, he said.
Almost 300 tourists cross the Indo-Nepal border near Sonouli everyday.
The districts, which share their border with Nepal, have been put on high alert, Kumar said.
Intelligence units have also been asked to keep an eye on religious places along the border.
