“We are confident to meet the target by the end of this year as sale of automobiles has started picking up again in the recent days,” Rajesh Kaji Shrestha, managing director of CBG, told a press meet held in Kathmandu on Sunday.
CBG has been selling vehicles of SsangYong Motor, India´s Mahindra & Mahindra has 70 percent stake in the company, in the country for six months now. So far, it has introduced Korando, Actyon, Rexton and Actyon Sports models at prices between Rs 3.47 million and Rs 5.97 million.
Of the vehicles manufactured by SsangYong, Korando has lately started drawing attention after it won ´The North European´ race, which covered some 7,000 kilometers from North Pole to the Netherlands in extreme weather conditions of up to minus 40 degree celcius.
“This is a matter of pride for us, as the vehicle has beaten more than 60 other reputed names like BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Toyota, Ford and Hyundai, among others, in the race,” Shrestha said.
Recently, Korando also bagged NZ4WD magazine´s Recreational Vehicle (Compact) of the Year award. The New Zealand magazine had called the Korando “a joy to drive on and off the road", as it comes “well equipped" and "acceleration feels brisk and sporty while body roll is well controlled by the all-independent suspension”.
Neha Shrestha, marketing director of CBG, said: “Korando is suitable for Nepali road conditions as it has superior ground clearance.” Besides, the electronic stability program prevents wheels from slipping. It also incorporates active roll-over protection, hill start assist and anti-lock brake, which intervene when a potentially dangerous situation is detected.
“Most of the SsangYong vehicles come with best safety features which make them suitable for rough roads like those of Nepal,” Shrestha said.
