SS Event crashes out despite huge win

KATHMANDU, April 5: SS Event Cricket Team on Sunday scored a rare total of 446-runs in the domestic cricket tournament of 50-over as it defeated G-Force Cricket Academy by 303 runs in the First Kathmandu Cricket League being held in Tudikhel, Kathmandu.

After being asked to bat first, SS Event put 446/10 in 42.5 overs as Sunam Gautam scored 179 runs facing only 83 balls and Sonu Tamang hit 136 runs off 71 balls. Sunam, who completed century in 46 balls, smashed seven sixes and 23 fours, while Sonu cracked nine sixes and nine boundaries.

In reply, G-Force was bundled out for 143 runs in 35.3 overs while chasing 447 runs target. Janak Nepal scored highest 29 runs for G-Force.

However, the victory failed to secure SS Event place in last four despite having equal three points as that Dhangadhi United as the later earned place in the semifinals from Group C by the virtue of better run rate.
