KATHMANDU, April 6: A total of 264 climbers have obtained mountain climbing permits for the spring climbing season as of Friday.
According to data obtained from the Department of Tourism (DoT), permits for climbing 15 mountains have been issued as of Friday. The mountain with the highest number of permits issued this season is Mt. Everest.
As of Friday, 130 climbers from 11 expedition teams have received permission to climb Mt. Everest, with 26 of them being women. Mt. Amadablam is in second place, with 38 climbers from four groups having obtained permission to climb including six women.

Similarly, 25 climbers have been granted permission to climb Mt. Annapurna I and 15 climbers have obtained permission for summiting Mt. Dhaulagiri.
Likewise, 10 people have permission for Makalu I and eight each for Jugal I and II. Seven permits have been issued each for Putha Himchuli and Kanchenjungha.
According to the DoT, five people have been granted permission for Mt. Himalung and four for Tenggopa Himal. So far, 60 women have received permission to climb these mountains.
The DoT has collected royalties worth Rs 199.2 million solely from climbing permits as of Friday
