Sports ministry allocates Rs 43.4 million for preparation of international-level sports competitions

KATHMANDU, July 4: Minister for Youth and Sports, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, has shared that the ministry has allocated Rs 43.4 million for the preparation of international-level sports competitions, including the Paris Olympics, Mission-2026 and the Sixth Asian Indo Martial Arts-2024.  

During the discussion on Appropriation Bill in today's meeting of the National Assembly, Minister Shrestha mentioned that special training would be imparted to more than 200 athletes of national-level 10 games for the grand international sports competition. 

He explained that Rs 29 million has been allocated for their participation in different international-level competitions and Rs 1.1 million has been allocated for the development of traditional sports including chess, dandi biyo and horse riding. 

Stating that budget has been allocated to organize 11 different international level competition for the development and expansion of tourism through the medium of sports, the Sports Minister added that RS 40 million has been allocated to build 'High Altitude Training Center' to attract domestic and foreign players for training at Patarasi of Jumla.  

The ministry has allocated Rs 20 million to build a high-altitude training covered hall of Taekwondo at Shailung of Dolakha, he underlined, according to Minister Shrestha. 

Priority has been given to construct infrastructures at Mulpani Cricket Stadium, flood light installation at Kirtipur-based cricket ground, arrangement of fitness hall and equipment for athletes and establishment of sports training center for the coming fiscal year, said the Sports Minister.
