Rolling Plans in semis
KATHMANDU: Rolling Plans on Friday advanced into the semifinal of Corporate Beach Cricket being held at Riverside Spring Resort, Kurintar. Rolling Plans won all three of its Group B matches to secure a place in the semifinal. Rolling Plans defeated APF DMTC, WWF Panda and Prime Life Insurance in the first day of the two-day tournament. Surya Nepal, Nimbus and Himalayan Distillery each registered two wins from as many matches in another group and are close to the semifinal spot. Top team from each group will qualify for the semifinal. Altogether 16 teams are divided into four groups.
Shrestha, Nepali bag gold
KATHMANDU: Kiran Shrestha of Lalitpur and Sunita Nepali of Rupandehi clinched gold medals on Friday in the First NECOS Junior National Taekwondo Championship. Shrestha won the gold in boys´ poomse event for red belt holders. Sakar Gurung of Rupandehi claimed silver medal while Ainsingh Tamang of Kavre and Manish Somai of Bhaktapur bagged bronze medals.
In the girls´ poomse event for green belt holders, Nepali finished on the top of the victory stand while Roshani Shrestha of Bijeshwari Gyan Mandir secured silver medal. Sanjala Timalsina of Kathmandu and Namika Moktan of Kavre claimed bronze medals of the event. The championship, organized by Nepal Confederation of Sports (NECOS), will conclude on Saturday at the National Sports Council Covered Hall.
