KATHMANDU, June 22: An unbeaten century from Gokul Joshi for Tribhuvan University helped them book semifinal place in the Wai Wai Vice Chancellor Cup T20 Cricket Tournament on Tuesday after they won second match in a row at the TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur.
TU registered an empathetic 195 run win over Public Youth in their last group match. Invited to bat first, TU garnered 266\\\\1 and bowled out Public Youth for 71 runs in 15.3 overs. Joshi who was declared man-of-the-match hit 103 off 59 deliveries and Surendra Chand scored 78 off 52 as they played 221 runs opening partnership.[break]
Birat Poudel (24) was the only batsman to hit double figure for Public Youth. Anil Adhikari of TU claimed three wickets and Amrit Shreshta hauled two wickets.
In another match, Himalayan White House College defeated Apex College by 142 runs in their first match. Opting to bat first, White House garnered 231\\\\1 and restricted Apex for 89 runs in 17.5 overs.
In course of setting the huge target, Subash Khaurel of White House scored century remaining unbeaten and Sharad Vesawkar smashed 64 off 21 unbeaten. The man-of-the-match adjudged Khakurel struck 102 facing 57 ball . Dipesh Khatri added 50 runs.
Niraj Shakya (30), Pravesh Dhungana (17) and Bhaivav Chand (16) were the only batsmen for Apex to reach double figure. Manish Sakhalkar and Dipesh Chhetri of White House claimed two wickets each.
The tournament is organized by TU, Kirtipur.
Prime, Trinity triumph
KATHMANDU, June 22: Prime and Trinity A won their respective matches under boys category on Tuesday in the First Nobel Cup U-19 Three-0n-Three Basketball Tournament at the covered hall of Dasharath Stadium.
With 20 points from Mahesh Rai Prime defeated Buce Phaluc 34-22. Trinity A eased past Triton 33-24. Manish Shrestha netted 22 points for the winning side. White House ousted Pentagon B 35-26 riding on 16 points of Anup Adhikari.
New Summit saw off Taras 33-23. Devendra Rana netted 19 pints for New Summit. Golden Gate eased past Future Breeds 30-16. Rupesh Napit netted 16 points for the Golden Gate.
Inter-school football
KATHMANDU, June 22: KU High School and Suryodaya Shahi Secondary School won their matches Monday in the Coca Cola Cup Inter School Boys National Football Tournament. In Sano Gaucharan ground, KU defeated Mount Kailash in sudden death after the regulation time ended in 3-3 draw and tiebreaker ended in 4-4 draw.
Rieksh Khatri scored twice for KU and Bises Karki added another. Jampa Tenzing Gurung netted all three goals for Mount Kailash. In another match Suryodaya ousted Eakta Sadan 1-0. Ritesh Maharjan scored the lone goal for the winning side.
Likewise, IJ Pioneer saw off Texas International 5-2. Sunil Hasda scored hattrick for IJ Pioneer while Umesh Raut and Prakash Khatri scored one each. Sakaldeep Shah and Nima Dorje scored apiece for Texas. Likewise, Pulse Academy defeated St Davis 6-0. Dawa Lama netted a brace for the winning side while Niraj Chapagain, Sumis Lama, Santosh Acharya and Bishwa Raj Magar netted one goal each. In other matches held at Chyasal NKCEPS, Daffodil and St Xaviers (Jawalakhel) won their respective matches.
