SPORTS BRIEFS: Three wins for Innovative

KATHMANDU: Innovative achieved three victories on Saturday in the 11th Gyan Niketan Inter-school Basketball Championship on Saturday in the capital. Innovative defeated Valley Public 53-30 in senior boy´s section, Gyan Niketan 36-28 in junior boys and Sri Diwa 36-23 in the senior girls´ category. Anup Raut contributed 20 points in senior boys´ category, Bhupendra Rokka 14 points in junior boys category and Trishna Khatri 15 points in girls category for the winning team. In other matches of senior boy´s category Neric saw off Kathmandu Valley 35-27, Cambridge beat Gyanodaya 60-43 and Radiant beat Greenland 39-25. Similarly, in senior girl´s Gyanodaya beat host Gyan Niketan 26-18 and Neric saw off New Vision 18-13.



Olympia, Xavier triumph

KATHMANDU: Olympia and Xavier International won their respective matches on Saturday in the HISSAN Sports and Extra-curricular Activities being held in the capital. Olympia crushed Kasthamandap 35-6 and Xavier thrashed Cambridge 59-18. In other matches, Caribbean downed CBM 46-13, NIST beat Arunima 26-21, GoldenGate beat Angels Heart 62-30, Trinity beat Edmark 58-17, Nobel beat Global 39-25 and KCM edged past Universal 33-30.



JSKA events from Feb 5

KATHMANDU: Nepal Shotokan Karate Do Association (NSKA) is organizing Open JSKF International Seminar, Grading and Championship from February 5 to 9 in the capital. Organizing a press conference in the capital on Saturday, NSKA General Secretary JB Lama informed that the event will be participated by about 500 players from across Nepal, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The championship will feature competitions for 60 gold and silver medals each and 120 bronze medals. The grading will be held on February 5 and 6. Chief instructor from Japan Toshiaki Namiki will arrive Nepal for grading.
