Lama´s hat-trick sinks Central Region
KATHMANDU: Anu Lama scored a hat-trick for APF Club as the departmental team demolished Central Region 4-0 during the First Women´s League Football Tournament in Dhangadhi on Friday. Lama opened the scoring in the 11th minute, doubled the lead in the 41st minute and completed her hat-trick, and the club´s fourth goal, in the 78th minute. Tej Kumari Gurung was also on target for APF earlier in the 65th minute. In another match, a brace from Sanrachana Pradhan helped women´s team of Eastern Region register a 3-0 win over Western Region. Sita Rai scored the other goal for Eastern Region.
Kathmandu Valley lifts basketball title
KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Valley School won the title of the Second Neric-Zenith Inter-school Basketball Tournament in the senior boys´ section on Friday. Kathmandu Valley registered a thrilling win in the final as it edged past Innovative 37-36 to lift the title. Ang Chiring Sherpa of Kathmandu Valley was adjudged the Most Valuable Player (MVP). Innovative had the consolation of winning the tie in the junior boys´ section. Meanwhile, Teresa Academy clinched the title in the senior girls´ section defeating Valley Public School 26-19. Sarita Thapa, who was declared the MVP, top scored for the winning team during the final held on the court of Neric Academy in Sankhamul.
