KATHMANDU, Nov 22: Former national cricketer Aamir Akhtar on Tuesday said he will not withdraw the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN).

“If the main issues raised by us are not addressed by CAN, we might consider withdrawing [the PIL],” he said in a press conference. [break]

“However, it is still under discussions.” He expressed dissatisfaction towards former CAN President Binay Raj Pandey as the patron.

"It is surprising why Pandey is appointed as the Patron as there is no clause in the statute of CAN, National Sports Council or Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to have chief patron," Akhtar said.

Akhtar also welcomed CAN´s decision to provide monthly allowances to the national team players.

The main issues set by Akhtar are decentralization of cricket, allowances to players and election representatives in the executive body.
