NKF issued a press release on Wednesday and informed that the final-round match of men´s 55 kg between South Asian Gold medalist Sunil Lama and Rabindra Dahal as well as women´s 68 kg match between Tara Gurung and Meena Devi Pathak are rescheduled for Saturday. [break]
Dahal and Gurung were declared winners during the final round selection match last week but their opponent has lodged official protest against referees´ decisions. "Whatever is written in the policies of World Karate Federation (WKF) and Asian Karate Federation (AKF), there are precedents of reconducting the matches if there are controversies by consulting the WKF and AKF," read the press release.
National Games on March
National Sports Council (NSC) has decided to organize the Sixth National Games in March 2011. NSC board meeting concluded on Wednesday that the Games would be held from March 5 to 28 in Dhangadi. NSC had previously declared Dhangadi as the host city after completing feasibility study.
Valley Public, New Summit in semis
Valley Public and The New Summit on Wednesday secured semifinals berth in the Pathsala Cup First National Mini Basketball Tournament winning their respective matches. Valley Public eased past Mahendra Bhawan 16-6. Bishal BK and Ganesh BK scored six points each for the winning side. New Summit ousted Birhaspati 24-14 riding on 14 points of Janu Pokharel. Rato Bangala and Ullens also made it through to the semis. Ullens defeated Kasthamandap and Rato Bangala saw off Gyan Niketan. Valley Public will meet New Summit and Ullens will play against Rato Bangala in semifinals to be held on Thursday.
GoalNepal supports Lama family
GoalNepal.com on Wednesday handed over Rs 70,000 to Chewang Lama, the father of late Gyalgen Lama, collected through the website (www.goalnepal.com) amidst a function in the capital. CEO of the website Bikram Thapa handed over the cash at the Mangaldeep School premises. Of the total amount, Rs 10,000 will be given to school management to purchase sports kits. GoalNepal.com has also established Gyalgen Award in the memory of late Lama. According to CEO Thapa, the money was collected through Nepali football lovers in Nepal, Qatar, the Netherlands and the United States.
