SPORTS BRIEFS: Nepal win karate title

KATHMANDU, Sept 4: Nepal won the title of the Fourth NSKA International Karate Championship that concluded on Saturday in Kathmandu. Nepal won 33 gold medals during the tournament. India and Pakistan claimed a gold medal each.



There were 35 events in the tournament organized by Nepal Sotokan Karate Association (NSKA). [break]





AIA off to winning start



KATHMANDU, Sept 4: The hosts Awareness International Academy (AIA) started the First AIA Inter-school Basketball Tournament with victory on Saturday in junior boys´ category. AIA defeated Glory 31-21.



Likewise, Valley Public, Gyan Niketan, Himalayan Help Care Academy, Angels´ Heart and Innovative won their respective matches on Saturday in the junior boys´ category.



Meanwhile, Angels´ Heart thrashed Gems 24-14 in the girls´ category after Eva Malla scored 12 points for the winners.
