Khadka, Thagunna in final
Rajendra Khadka and Kanchan Singh Thagunna advanced into the final of the men´s singles in the Panchakumari Badminton Tournament on Wednesday.
Khadka defeated Semanta Lamichhane 11-15, 17-14, 15-5. Thagunna edged out Rakesh Singh 13-15, 15-6, 15-5 to fix the final clash with Khadka. Meanwhile, Singh beat Lamichhane 15-8, 15-3 to clinch the third position in the tourney.
Shramik in semis
Shanti Shramik entered the semifinals of the Pepsi Cup Inter-school Football Tournament defeating Child Nature School 3-1 at the Sanothimi sports ground on Wednesday. Child Nature took a seventh minute lead through Bigyan Gurung. Man-of-the-match Sandip Adhikari of Shramik scored the equalizer in the 18th minute and added another in the 37th. Sanjay Rana Magar sealed the match with another goal two minutes later.
Players and Coach Association formed
A 45-member Nepal Players and Coach Association (NPCA) was formed under the chairmanship of former national footballer Narendra Man Shrestha on Wednesday. The five vice presidents of the association are Mahesh Ranjit, Santosh Shrestha, Rajiv Maharjan, Raja Tuladhar and Swayambhu Raj Dangol. Rabindra Malla, Murari KC and Yogendra Man Shrestha are secretary, treasurer and joint treasurer, respectively.
