India finished second with five golds in the event organized by Nepal Goju-Ryu Karate-Do Association. Singapore´s S Vigan Mensah was adjudged the player in senior boys´ category while Nepal´s Sangeeta Magar was declared the best player in the senior girls´ category.
Likewise, Raju Roy of Bangladesh and Jaspreet Kaur of India were adjudged the best players in the junior boys´ category and junior girls´ category respectively. Among the cadets, Sagar Baraili and Deepa Thapa of Nepal bagged the award for best players in boys´ and girls´ categories respectively.
Greenwich, Preetima in QF
Greenwich Academy and Preetima English School advanced into the quarterfinals of the Fifth FECA Cup Inter-school Boys Football Tournament winning their respective matches on Saturday. Greenwich defeated New Holy Cross 2-1 on the second day of the tournament held at the Sinamangal´s town planning sports ground. Prakash Thapa, who was later adjudged man of the match, scored both the goals for the winning team.
Shekhar Gautam scored a consolation for Holy Cross. In the day´s other match, a hat-trick from Kaushal Thapa helped Preetima thrash Tridevi English School 6-0. Manik Shrestha added two goals while Umesh Thapa Magar contributed one in the rout. Shrestha was declared man of the match. Likewise, Hebron defeated Manohara 4-2 in a penalty shootout to advance into the quarterfinals.
Unique, Daffodil lift titles
Unique ´A´ and Daffodil lifted the titles of the Sixth Unique Inter-school Basketball Tournament in the senior boys´ and junior boys´ categories respectively on Saturday. Defending champions Unique struggled past HIMS 20-18 in the final match of the three-on-three held at the hosts court in Siphal. Bipun Maharjan, who was later adjudged the most valuable player (MVP), contributed 12 points for the winners.
Likewise, holders Daffodil defended their titles by beating Wilson Academy 31-17 riding on 12 points from Saroj Sapkota. Dorje Sherpa of Daffodil was adjudged the MVP in the junior boys´ category.
Whitehouse, Bagmati triumph
Whitehouse, Bagmati, Morgan and Ace won their respective matches in the Madan Bhandari Memorial Inter-college (+2) Boys Basketball Tournament organized under a month-long sports festival by Madan Bhandari Sports Academy.
Whitehouse edged past Xavier Int´l 44-33 riding on 14 points of Asim Shrestha. Bagmati outplayed Kathmandu International Study Center (KISC) 59-26 with 18 points from Anish Shahi. Morgan thrashed Pentagon 65-26. Saurav Shrestha contributed 19 points for the winning side. Ace saw off Golden Gate 61-47. Tshering scored 17 points for Ace.
