In another match, NIMS hammered Tilingtar HSEB 3-0. Sandesh Tamang, Pema Nima and Rajesh Shahi netted apiece for NIMS. In other matches held at the Chyasal Ground, Sampurna Secondary School and Pushpa Sadan won their respective matches.
Morgan in Nobel Cup quarterfinal
KATHMANDU, June 27: Morgan College advanced into the quarterfinals of the First Nobel Cup 3-on-3 Basketball under women´s section on Monday. Morgan humiliated Dharan 34-4 at the Dasharath Stadium covered hall. Sujata Rai scored 12 points for Morgan.
Under men´s category, Morgan, New Summit, Trinity C and VS Niketan A booked pre-quarterfinal spots. Riding on 16 points of Ketan Khadka, Morgan defeated Nagars 34-20. New Summit beat Future Breeds 34-30. Devendra Rana scored 18 points for the winning side.
Similarly, Kunga Sherpa scored 13 points for Trinity C as they ousted Kisk C 33-14. VS Niketan A had a narrow 33-30 win over White House A.
National badminton in August
KATHMANDU, June 27: The 34th edition of the National Badminton Tournament will be held from August 3-7 in the capital. Lalitpur District Badminton Association will organize the tournament at the Dasharath Stadium covered hall under the aegis of Nepal Badminton Association (NBA).
The tournament will feature competitions in 12 events including men´s and women´s singles and doubles, mixed doubles, U-19 men´s and women´s singles, U-15 boys´ and girls´ singles, veterans´ doubles (over 45) and men´s and women´s team events. A player will be eligible to participate only in three categories other than team event.
The organizers have expected participation of 602 players from 38 district associations affiliated to NBA, three departmental teams and Himalayan Badminton Club.
