In the first T20, KCC defeated KCTC by one wicket and in the second match they achieved a five-wicket victory. [break]
KCTC won the toss in the first match and scored 101 runs in 19.1 overs losing all wickets. KCC successfully chased the target losing nine wickets in 15.1 overs. In the second match, KCC again won the toss and invited KCTC to bat first and restricted them in 18.5 overs with 89 runs on board. KCC reached the target in 12.3 overs losing five wickets.
Club Mosses triumph
KATHMANDU: Snow Leopard and Club Mosses, the hosts, started the Club Mosses Cup Five-A-Side Knockout Football Tournament with victories on Saturday. In the opening match, Snow Leopard beat Terai Television 2-1. Pasang Tshring scored in the 35th minute while Namgyal Lama scored the second goal. Aman Adhikari scored the consolation goal for Terai Television. In the other match, the hosts thrashed Buddha Air 7-1. Chet Narayan Shrestha, Pradeep Lama and Ramesh Lama scored two goals each while Arjun Lama scored one for the hosts. Jay Ram KC scored the consolation goal for Buddha Air. Fast-to-fast group and Image Channel reached the second round after receiving walkover in their respective matches.
Newton and Angels´ Heart triumph
KATHMANDU: The hosts Newton and Angels´ Heart won titles of the Third Newton Valley-wide Volleyball Tournament in the boys´ and girls´ category respectively on Saturday. Newton defeated Nightingale 25-16, 20-25, 25-17, 25-18 to claim the title. Kamana School finished third.
Meanwhile, Angels´ Heart fought back from a set down to beat New Diamond 24-26, 25-14, 25-20, 25-21. Annal Jyoti stood third in the event.
In the boys category, Nightingale´s Man Bahadur Shrestha was declared the best spiker of the tournament. Other award winners were Angels´ Heart´s Min Raj Chantyal (setter), Newton´s Binod Thapa (server), Kamana´s Lawan Gotame (blocker), and Newton´s Kusum Pariyar (best player). In the girls´ category, New Diamond´s Ramila Tandukar (spiker), New Diamond´s Kripa Adhikari (setter), Annal Jyoti´s Prabisha Rai (server), Angels´ Heart´s Melina Thakuri (blocker), and Angels´ Heart´s Kamal Pun (best player) won the respective awards.
Worker YCL clinch volleyball trophy
KATHMANDU: Workers Young Communist League (YCL) clinched the First Valley-wide Open Mens´ Volleyball Tournament on Saturday. Workers YCL defeated Workers Martyr Memorial Club (WMMC) 25-21, 25-18, 23-25 25-13 in the final. The winners and the runners up received Rs 50, 000. and Rs 40, 000 respectively. Kavre Offset Press finished third. Som Thapa of Workers YCL was named the best player of the tournament. WMMC´s Umesh Buda Magar and Pashupati Chaudhary were adjudged best defender and lifter respectively. Worker YCL´s Milan Mall and Madan Saud were named best spikier and blocker respectively. The individual prize winners were handed Rs 5, 000 each.
HIMS into final eight
KATHMANDU: HIMS fixed quarterfinal spot in the Fourth Daffodil Cup Inter-school Senior Boys´ Basketball Tournament on Saturday. HIMS thrashed Kantipur 50-20. Tenzing Chopak scored 12 points for the winning team. In other matches of the same category, Valley Public, GEMS, Young Hearts and Daffodil ´A´ were the winners. Valley Public beat Arniko 37-23, Young Heart defeat Baba 51-47, GEMS thrashed Mount Kailash 40-24 and Daffodil overpowered The Excelsior 62-45. In girls´ category Clinton advanced into the quarterfinal defeating Baba 24-10 while Mahendra Bhawan overcame GEMS 37-19. In the Fifth Junior Boys´ Football, LRI and Trikon have fixed their place in the final eight. LRI beat Chelsea 3-1 while Trikon routed TIA 6-0. Bright Land lashed Reed Model 6-2 in the other league match.
Valley Public in quarters
KATHMANDU: Valley Public School secured quarterfinal under girls´ category in the National U-14 Basketball Festival on Saturday. Valley Publc had a hard fought 19-18 win over TIA with eight points from Soniya Limbu. Ganesh beat New Summit 16-10. Saila Dangol contributed seven points for the winning side. In boys´ category, LRI saw off Green Land 38-22, Angel Heart routed HHCA 25-18 and Ideal Model overcame Valley Public 41-31.
'KCC Exhibit 2019' kicks off
