Central Region finishes on top
KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): Central Region secured first position in the Fourth National Goju-ryu Oshukai Karate Championship that concluded at the Table Tennis Hall, Lainchaur on Saturday. Central Region won 22 gold medals during the championship. Eastern Region finished second with three gold, three silver and six bronze medals. Western Region finished third with one gold, two silver and eight bronze medals. Tanka Bir Tamang and Saru Lama were declared the best players in the men´s and women´s sections respectively. Tamang and Lama will compete in the Third Asian Cup Karate Championship to be held in New Delhi, India from May 3-5.
Eastern, Central reach final
JANAKPUR (REPUBLICA): Eastern Region on Sunday set up a final showdown with Central Region in the Ncell Youth (U-15) Football Tournament underway in Janakpur, Dhanusha. Eastern Region defeated Far-western Region 4-2 in tie-breaker following a 1-1 draw in the regulation time. Sulav Chaudhary had scored for Eastern Region in the regulation time while Sushil Pandey had scored for Far-western Region. Similarly, Central Region edged past Armed Police Force 2-0 in another semifinal. Dipesh Yonjan netted both the goals for Central Region.
