Unique, Trinity win in Nobel Cup
KATHMANDU, June 29: Unique, Trinity B and C and VS Niketan B on Tuesday advanced into the quarterfinals under men´s section in the First Nobel Cup U-19 National 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament at the Dasharath Stadium covered hall.
Unique defeated White House 33-18. Bikash Gurung top scored with 25 points for Unique. [break]
Trinity B had a narrow 32-30 win over Prime. Norbu Lama contributed 18 points for the winning side. Riding on 17 points of Kunga Sherpa Trinity C edged past Bagmati 34-24. VS Niketan B thrashed New Summit 33-12 as Subash Pun netted 15 points for the winning side. Xavier saw off Triton Int´l 34-18. Sagar Thapa netted 13 points for the winning side.
In other pre-quarterfinal matches, Morgan Int´l and Nobel Academy emerged victorious. Morgan eased past Xavier B 34-21 while Nobel beat Golden Gate 34-23. Ketak Khadka scored 15 points for Morgan and Rajesh Maharjan netted 16 points for Nobel.
Tamang wins 100m
KATHMANDU, June 29: Pemba Tamang of Deep Jyoti and Gyani Chunara of Bijeshwori won the men´s and women´s 100m race on Tuesday in the Second President´s Cup Running Shield Athletics Championship.
Pemba finished the distance in 12.5 seconds. Niraj Bista of Prithivi and Sushant Shrestha of Brihaspati came in second and third positions.
Under women´s section, Chunara finished the race in 13.8 seconds to win the gold while Ramila Tandukar of New Diamond and Ranjana Khadka took silver and bronze respectively.
In men´s 1,500m, Milan Sunuwar of NAPF bagged gold completing the race in 4.59.3 minute. Rajan Thapa of NAPF and Prakash Sharma of Mansingh Dharma finished second and third.
In women´s 1,500m race, Laxmi Karki and Binika Joshi took home gold and silver while Kripa Adhikari of New Diamond won bronze.
Inter-school football
KATHMANDU, June 29: Amar English School hammered Gyan Shikha Boarding School 10-0 on Tuesday in the Coca Cola Cup Inter-school Men´s National Football Tournament at the Sano Gaucharan ground.
Saraswati Shiksha Griha defeated Bipul Shiksha Niketan 2-1. Deep Jyoti hammered Dhumrabaraha 9-1 while Lord Buddha Secondary School beat Manakamana Boarding School 2-0.
In other matches held at the Chyasal ground, Guheshwori HSEB (Bansbari) and Pushpa Sadan won their respective matches. Guheshwori beat Sampurna Secondary School 2-1 and Pushpa Sadan thrashed Vidya Sadan 8-1.
